A LLYN supermarket gave Pwllheli’s foodbank an early Christmas present last week by handing them a cheque for £2,000.

Jo Scott, community colleague from Asda in Pwllheli, turned up at the food bank just days before Christmas and handed the volunteers a cheque to help with their work all year round.

The volunteers were absolutely delighted and already have plans for the money, such as purchasing a soft toy area for toddlers and arts and crafts supplies for older children, giving them a safe place to play.

“This will give us an opportunity to engage with local families, some of whom need more support than we can give at present,” said volunteer Ursula Whitehouse.

“The cheque was a wonderful Christmas surprise for us, thank you Asda.”
