Football club officials have spoken of their anger over irresponsible dog owners in Aberdyfi.

Committee members from Aberdyfi FC, Tony and Penny Horton, were shocked to find a large bag of dog poo left on a seat by the side of the football pitch when they arrived to do some maintenance work at the pitch last Friday.

Penny said: “We have been finding dog mess here for many years – usually left around the goal area but sometimes on the pitch too.

“To find a bag blatantly left on top of one of the seats by the pitch is just about the last straw!”

“It is maddening to think that people are so lazy that they can’t be bothered to take their dog poo bags to the nearest bin but just leave them for someone else to remove.

“At least it was in a bag but this whole ‘dog mess ‘ situation is getting out of hand.

“This is an area where there are spectators every week for the matches and usually quite a few children play here then too.

“We are all trying to be more aware of our environment and look after our local areas and dog owners in particular should be more responsible.

“We look after the pitch on a voluntary basis and we take pride in our club but continually clearing up dog poo for irresponsible dog owners is very disheartening.”
