DISGRUNTLED Machynlleth residents should complain to Powys County Council chiefs if they are unhappy about the standard of grass cutting in the county, a Machynlleth town councillor has said.
Following a flood of complaints at the lack of grass cutting, especially at Machynlleth cemetery, Cllr Rhydian Mason said he had held talks with senior officials from the county council, raising his unhappiness at the “lack of respect” some workers had shown while working in the cemetery.
Problems were first raised after the grass was allowed to grow to high levels, but Cllr Mason said he had been unhappy when he had witnessed some workers walking over gravestones and had been shocked.
He said he had raised the concerns after meeting with a senior Powys Council official at the Royal Welsh Show, and said: “If we don’t complain officially and formally, the powers that be won’t be aware of it.
“The whole town deserves respect, especially the cemetery when people are mourning nearby."
