Evan Henry Evans, formerly of Cellan, Llansaint and Cwmann, has celebrated his 100th birthday at Allt-y-Mynudd Care Home, Llanybydder, where he has been a much-loved resident since 2016.

Mr Evans is the last survivor of seven children born to Thomas and Sarah and is the widower of Hannah Jane, who he married in 1947.

He continues to enjoy watching and listening to Welsh television and radio, especially choral singing, Eisteddfod programmes and hymn singing.

Mr Evans was chapel secretary at Llansaint, Kidwelly, before retiring to Cwmann in 1965.

He has led a full and active life and remains in contact with all his nieces and nephews and close friends Brenda and Evan Morgan and Glesni Jones.
