A FORMER village church near Pwllheli will go under the hammer later this month, with a guide price of just £50,000.
The Grade II listed former Buan parish church in the village of Boduan was originally built in the late 18th century.
In 1809-11 it was said to be newly built, but decayed and reportedly made into its present neo-Norman “cruciform” style in 1891-94.
The building received its grade II listing for the “impressive example of neo-Romanesque work” - an unusual architectural style for buildings of this type.
Aside from being a church, the building has served as a venue for music teaching and craft events.
It was deconsecrated in 2004 after falling into misuse.
It is likely any new owners would apply for change of use to holiday lets or residence, subject to planning permission and National Heritage guidance.
The church will be auctioned off by Edward Mellor on Wednesday, 26 April.
