FOUR large trees were uprooted and fell onto a house near Llanfarian as a trail of carnage was left in the wake of Storm Jake.
Joanne Thomas’ house was left with a damaged chimney and a hole in the roof when the trees crashed down.
Other large trees were uprooted near the rope labyrinth on North Road and on Penglais Hill in Aberystwyth, roads were closed in the town centre because of falling roof tiles and homes were left without electricty as 70mph gusts caused havoc.
Speaking to the Cambrian News, Mrs Thomas said she has been left feeling “awful” and does not know when the roof will be repaired.
“At around 9am, we heard a rumble followed by a loud bang, and then we felt the house shake,” said Mrs Thomas, who couldn’t open her front door because of the fallen trees.
“The chimney pot is in half and there is a hole in the roof.
“The tree surgeons have left one part of the tree up there because they are worried the chimney will collapse if they remove it.”
