Four people, including a child, had to be rescued from flood waters by emergency services in the early hours of Saturday, 22 February as two vehicles became trapped.

The vehicles, a van and a car, were trapped by flood waters on the A470 along the Dolgellau bypass.

Aberdyfi Search & Rescue, North Wales Police and North Wales Fire & Rescue were called to the scene.

A spokesperson for Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team said: "Shortly before 4.30am on Saturday, 22 February, Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team was requested to assist North Wales Police and Fire & Rescue services in the rescue of passengers from two vehicles trapped in flood-water on the A470 near Dolgellau.

"As water in the river Wnion exceeded the highest levels recorded since the river gauge was opened in 1990, storm drains in the Bont Fawr underpass were unable to function and the dip in the road became flooded.

"Two vehicles, a van with a single passenger, and a car with two adults and a child became trapped in the water.

"As the water team were gathering equipment and arriving on scene, the team was informed that the passengers had been recovered and the incident was stood down."
