Madam,
I would like to thank all those from Ceredigion Carers Support Services for organising such an excellent Carers Support Day on 1 December, held in the beautiful surroundings of the Old College in Aberystwyth.
There were a great range of support service represented, such as Hafal and the Young Carers Team. There were presentations on issues such as Wellbeing, and Cyber Danger, throughout the day.
Also present were other organisations that people might not expect. I had a lovely conversation with a lady from the Supporters Unit in the National Library. She spent some time showing me how I could work on an interesting project, to archive Kyffin William’ diaries, at home. At any time of the day or night! And how this would help anyone who wanted to learn more about his life, friends, travels, etc. People who spend a lot of time at home are always interested in finding ways that they can do useful things like this, and I certainly intend to find out more about this in the new year.
And, finally, I discovered that there is such a thing as a free lunch! Not only was the whole event free, with lots of useful information on offer from the many stalls, but there was also lunch. This was a delicious cawl served in another room in this fantastic old building.
So well done to all in the Carers Support Unit for putting together such an excellent day.
Thank you to all the very many organisations (over 20) who were present offering their advice and help.
Over my lunch, I met a few carers and their families, who were very pleased that they made an effort to attend.
I hope that the organisers were pleased with the turn out and will put on another next year.
Yours etc,
P Griffiths, Aberystwyth.
