A local volunteer group has installed two dog poo bag dispensers in Aberystwyth.

Caru Aber have placed one of the dispensers, acquired thanks to CAVO’s Small Grants Scheme, on the prom railings at the end of South Beach and another on the railings next to the Marina, as part of their campaign “to help clean up the town”.

Co-founder of Caru Aber Yvonne Dryburgh said if the trial is successful, they are hoping to get more grants to further the project: “Most dog walkers already pick up after their pets, but there are still some that are spoiling things for others. Caru Aber is hoping that by providing dog walkers with free biodegradable bags it will help eradicate the problem.”

Hazel Lloyd Lubran, chief executive at CAVO, said: “We’re always looking for more projects to fund, so get in touch and we can discuss how we can help you. You can apply for up to £2,000 in funding from the CAVO Small Grants Scheme and we also have funding available for larger projects; you can apply for up to £20,000 through our Main Grant Scheme.
