The Met Office has issued another warning for strong winds on Monday evening after a stormy weekend across much of Wales.

Storms Austen and Boelo battered much of Wales over the weekend, with gusts of 84mph recorded at Capel Curig on Saturday, with Aberporth recording 74mph winds on Friday.

A fresh weather warning for a spell of strong south to south-westerly winds which may cause some disruption has been issued for Monday evening into Tuesday morning.

The yellow warning runs from 6pm unti 3am on Tuesday and says: "South to south-westerly winds will increase from the west during Monday evening with gusts of 45-50 mph inland and 60-65 mph along exposed coasts and over high ground. The strong winds will be accompanied by heavy rain at times.

"Winds will then ease from the west during the early hours, before increasing again across northern parts of the UK early on Tuesday morning."

The Met Office adds that it is likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.

High tide in Aberystwyth will be at 7.47pm this evening at a height of 5.2 metres.

Strong winds led to powercuts for large swathes of Wales over the weekend.

There were reports of power cuts across much of Wales, with SP Energy dealing with 16 incidents in north and mid Wales - five on Anglesey. In south and west Wales, National Grid was dealing with a number of incidents, including in Ceredigion where more than 150 homes were without power.
