FAMILY and friends of a “caring” and “beautiful” 24-year-old Aberystwyth woman who took her own life last year, are running the Cardiff 10k race in her memory.

Former Ysgol Uwchradd Tregaron pupil Hawys Williams’ death last March came as a “complete shock”, a friend told the Cambrian News this week.

And 15 of her family and friends, called ‘Team Hawys’, are hoping to raise as much money and awareness as possible for PAPYRUS charity, which aims to prevent young suicide and supports people affected by it.

Speaking on behalf of Team Hawys, friend Jennavive Jones said: “It came as a complete shock to everybody who knew her.

“There are no words that can describe how wonderful Hawys really was. She was loved by many. She was the funniest, most caring, beautiful girl. Not a day goes by without thinking of Hawys. We all have memories that we will treasure forever.”
