The Bronglais Hospital League of Friends have recently made donations totalling more than £30,000 to the hospital and its community services, to improve the lives of local NHS patients and staff.

The Friends kindly donated £19,500 towards a new Chemotherapy Day Unit for the hospital. They also gave £6,552 for 120 Repose mattresses and 20 Repose foot protectors to be used by district nurses in patients’ homes, and £479 for equipment for Bronglais Hospital’s Leg Clinic.

And earlier in the year, the League of Friends donated £4,000 for a probe for an ultrasound machine at the A&E Department.

The Bronglais Hospital League of Friends, which has been in existence since 1948, raises money to help patients at the Aberystwyth hospital and in the local community.

With a membership of around 150, it is committed to raising funds to buy additional items, for the welfare of patients and staff.

The League of Friends, said: “We have to thank NHS staff and associated workers more than anyone for their unstinting efforts in the care of others.

“We have been unable to raise money through coffee mornings and our charity lunch this year. However, our committee rose to the challenge and decided that we should take the initiative by donating a major part of our substantial funds to charities that would benefit the sick in our community.”

Hazel Davies, General Manager at Bronglais Hospital, said: “These donations will make a big difference to the lives of our patients and staff and we are very grateful for the support of the League of Friends.”
