VOLUNTEERS from Friends of the Earth have worked with Ceredigion County Council to place bee-friendly plants in the grounds of Aberystwyth Castle.

Ceredigion council provided the plants and equipment such as spades while Aberystwyth Friends of the Earth provided the volunteers.

The plants were chosen by the council’s Parks and Gardens department, specifically to attract pollinating insects like bees.

Cllr Alun Williams said: “There are so many people in the community wanting to help with keeping Aberystwyth green and everyone can make a contribution in some way.

"In this case, the council has provided the plants and the equipment and Aberystwyth Friends of the Earth have provided an excellent turnout of helpers to make the castle grounds look nice and help pollinators like bees to survive.”
