A COLOURFUL charity walk has taken place to remember a “lovely, bubbly girl”.

Danielle Wrighton, 22, of Dyffryn Ardudwy died in a car crash near Llandegla, in December 2013.

The death of the popular carer shook the community.

Months after the fateful car crash, dozens of Danielle’s friends and family grouped as one, dressed in pink, and walked from Harlech to Barmouth to raise more than £5,000 for Ty Gobaith/Hope House in Danielle’s – known by those close to her as ‘Dani’ – memory.

Now, several years later, her friends have retraced their steps and helped raise money for Wales Air Ambulance, all whilst bedecked in Hawaiian garb.

On Sunday, 10 September, crowds of people took on the 10-mile trek.

One of the walkers and Dani’s friend, Jaimee Sydenham, was instrumental in organising the walk.

“We chose the Wales Air Ambulance because we feel it is a very worthy cause to donate to,” she said.

“We walked for my friend Dani who sadly passed away in a tragic car accident.

“She was a lovely, bubbly girl who’s greatly missed.

“It is the second charity walk we have done. The last walk we did in 2014 raised £5,500 for Hope House.

“This first one was all in pink but this one was Hawaiian fancy dress as it’s fun and Dani was a fun girl.

“There are still some sponsorship forms around, in Elegance Hair & Beauty Salon and Talybont & Smithy Garage in Dyffryn Ardudwy, if anyone would like to donate.

“Dani’s parents Iona and George and the rest of her family would like to thank everyone for all their help and continued support, it really means so much to them.”
