A new hide at part of the Coed y Bont community woodland has been unveiled after volunteers finished work on the facility.

The new hide, located near a pond and access paths created in 2015 at Coed Delgoed, was built thanks to grant funding through the Postcode Local Trust Fund, which was awarded in early 2018.

Coed y Bont chair Chris Harris said: “In 2015 the access paths were finished in the Coed Delgoed part of Coed y Bont, along with three ponds.

“The committee of Coed y Bont decided that the large pond would be a great place to site a hide to view wildlife and birds.

“We have been very grateful for the trust to provide funding for this project, which has provided a great facility to be used to view wildlife in Coed y Bont.”

Chris added: “The hide was designed and built by volunteers of Coed y Bont and the committee would like to thank the volunteers that all helped and assisted to make this happen.

“A path was built including culverts for drainage and the hide was built with hazel screens so that users of the hide access from the back and do not scare the wildlife."
