Tributes have flooded in to a “bright, vibrant” Aberystwyth teenager who died following a car crash near Comins Coch over the weekend.
Eighteen-year-old Ellie Bryan, a former Ysgol Penglais pupil, died in hospital on Sunday, 17 November, from injuries she suffered in a crash the night before.
In a statement, Ellie’s family thanked people for their support following the tragic incident.
They said: “We are distraught by our loss of Ellie. She will be missed by us all.
“Ellie was a loving daughter, sister and granddaughter.
“We would like to thank everyone for their support at this devastating time."
Ellie, who was a passenger in one of the cars in the crash, was a former Aberystwyth Sea Cadet and a spokesperson for the Sea Cadets paid tribute to Ellie.
He said: “Ellie was a bright, vibrant former member of Aberystwyth Sea Cadets who had only just left us to pursue her life which has been cut short so horribly.
“We are devastated at the news and we send our condolences to her family, who have had strong links with us over the years.”
A fundraising appeal by the family has raised over £1,300 in 12 hours towards Ellie’s funeral.
The appeal, on JustGiving, is hoping to raise £3,000 towards the funeral that Ellie’s family said she “so deserves”.
On the fundraising page - www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/elliebryan - Ellie’s father Paul wrote: “We are struggling with the cost of the funeral that she so deserves. Your help in whatever you can give for Ellie would be very much appreciated.”
