FUNDRAISERS have thanked businesses across Ceredigion for their support as they continue to raise money for a new chemotherapy unit at Bronglais Hospital.

The group of fundraisers, who completed a walk from Talsarn to Bronglais on New Year’s Day while dressed as flamingoes, are continuing with their efforts with flocks of flamingoes popping up for visits to businesses across Ceredigion.

The group chose flamingoes as the colour pink has a close link to breast cancer and would help raise awareness of the group’s fundraising aims. There will also be a dinner, auction and raffle held on 1 April.

Any business which receives a visit from the flamingoes is invited to make a donation, with more than £500 already raised and the group looking to beat their target of raising £600.

Carole Price, one of the organisers of the fundraising efforts, said the money raised would help improve facilities at Bronglais Hospital, with the group already raising almost £9,000 through the trek and the flocking efforts.

She said: “We visit businesses late at night, leaving 18 pink plastic flamingoes outside the property, one of which has details of the fundraising effort and contact details around its neck.

“No business is obliged to contribute, but if they wish to do so they can donate via our Just Giving page or by handing a cheque made payable to ‘Uned Chemotherapy Bronglais’ to the team member that is responsible for collecting the flamingoes.
