A BARMOUTH homeware store has released a parody of the John Lewis Christmas advert.

Pieces for Places in Barmouth has produced its own version of Man On The Moon following the huge success of last year’s #sexypenguin advert.

This year’s effort, called #nanonthetown, has already had more than 14,000 views on YouTube since going live earlier this week and features the shop owner’s very own gran.

The advert tells the story of a shop assistant who is trying in vain to sell a scarf to an elderly woman.

Pieces for Places are mimicking John Lewis and raising money and awareness for Age UK, the country’s largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life.

Jack Brooks, 27, drew up the storyboard and directed video with friend George Sanderson filming and producing the four minute video.

Jack said: “My phone went absolutely mental when this year’s John Lewis advert came out with all my friends and family asking if we were doing another one.

“I’m not sure it’ll go viral like the last one but hopefully we’ll raise some money for a worthy cause.”
