Madam,
Since the Cambrian News’ recent report on Ceredigion County Council restricting public access to the restaurant at the Penmorfa HQ, further restrictions have now been imposed.
Previously members of the public were allowed to use the restaurant if accompanied by a councillor. However, officers have now decided to tighten their control by deciding who councillors are allowed to take in there. Apparently, now councillors can only be trusted to take in members of the public from their own wards.
While this may appear at first to be just bureaucratic silliness, it highlights a disturbing trend in county council culture. It clearly shows who runs Ceredigion County Council and it’s clearly not the councillors.
The public may think that Ceredigion County Council now has more in common with the Eastern Bloc “democracy” of the Stalin era. That is how isolated it has become from us.
Yours etc,
J W Davies, Borth.
