LAST weekend, The Gallery, Aberdyfi, held a 50th anniversary retrospective exhibition of watercolours by the artist who established the Gallery in 1967, Edward Morris.

His daughter, artist Claire Davies who now runs the Gallery with her husband Glyn, said: “The family would like to extend a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who supported our 50th Anniversary celebrations over the weekend.

“Customers and friends came from far and wide to see the exhibition of wonderful watercolours and drawings by my father Edward Morris, who together with my mother started the Gallery in 1967.”

“My father only began painting seriously in 1960 but went on to exhibit at the Royal Marine Society, The Royal Watercolour Society, The Birmingham Society of painters and The Cambrian Academy.

“Some of the painting in the exhibition are owned by the family, but most were loaned especially for this Retrospective from private collections, so many thanks to all those who contributed.

“It is probably the last time we will have so many of my father’s painting on display together, so it was a real treat.

“Seeing my father’s paintings- some of which we had never seen before - has prompted us all to get out and get painting!”
