WILDLIFE enthusiasts can get a glimpse into the secret lives of nesting herons at a special viewing event in Pwllheli this weekend.

Guides from the North Wales Wildlife Trust will be providing telescopes at a viewpoint near the car park at Lon Cob Bach on Saturday, 19 March.

Grey herons have been nesting in the middle of Pwllheli for at least 17 years. They are early nesters, and this is an opportunity to view the parent birds through telescopes as they incubate their clutches of 3-4 eggs. There are usually 8-10 pairs in the colony.

Bird watchers will be on hand to answer questions about the lives of the local herons, and about other wildlife around Pwllheli harbour.

The event will be held between 10.30am – 4pm.
