MOTORING enthusiasts are invited to attend a charity classic and rally car run near Aberystwyth this weekend.

Organisers hope the car run, which will start at Y Ffarmers, in the scenic village of Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn, will raise a significant amount of money for a number of causes, including the Wales Air Ambulance and the village’s church and school.

Cars are welcome from 11am this Saturday, and the 75-mile run will start between 1.30pm and 2pm.

Speaking to the Cambrian News this week, Caitlin Morse, landlady at Y Ffarmers and co-organiser of the car run, said she hoped the event would be successful enough to make it an annual affair.

“The car run is being organised by myself and my friend Mary Williams who lives in the village,” said Caitlin.

“We chose to hold this event as we feel it is a positive, fun thing to do for the community.

“The three charities we chose are the local primary school and church as they are in the village, and it is a community event.

“And we feel the Wales Air Ambulance is a fantastic charity that benefits everyone.

“It is the first time that we have held this event — although Llanfihangel has been known to host very successful charity tractor runs.

“If it is a success we will consider making it an annual event. We hope this is the case.”

Caitlin said they were expecting around 40 cars, but encouraged anyone with “pretty much any vehicle” to join.

“Pretty much any vehicle is welcome. There are no strict rules on type or age of car.

“It’s all good fun. If you have a car you love and is old or interesting, or special in any way, then bring it along. We have several confirmed Land Rovers as well as a motorbike.”
