Ghost hunters have travelled underground at a mid Wales mine for a paranormal TV show.
The team from Haunted Hunts travelled to the Silver Mines at Llywernog for the first episode of their new series which streams on Amazon Prime Video from this week.
There have been several tales of spooky apparitions at the mines on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains between Aberystwyth and Ponterwyd along the A44.
From a disgruntled ex-employee of the silver mines named Dafydd, to a highway man and a woman named Isabella.
Lucie Walford, attraction manager at the Silver Mountain Experience, said: “We have been extremely excited to see what the Haunted Hunts team have been able to capture in their investigation at our Silver-Lead Mine.
“Llywernog Mine dates back to over 250 years ago and the site is very similar to how it was when it was a working mine.
“We have given the paranormal investigation team access to all areas including several of the original historic buildings as well as the underground workings themselves.
“Whole families, including women and children, used to work in these areas in dangerous, harsh conditions with accidents commonplace and the average life expectancy of a miner being only 32 years of age.
“Over the years the staff here have very often felt an unsettling sense of being watched around the site, and there have been many cases of unexplained noises including bangs in the mine, the sound of footsteps crunching on the gravel outside, and doors opening and closing on their own on days when it’s not been windy!
“Even visitors have reported sightings of figures in the mine and beliefs that there are some entities here on site.
“This led us to begin holding our own paranormal investigations, working with local team Ethereal Wales who use scientific methods to investigate whether ghosts really do exist.
“Over the last few years they have recorded some very unnerving experiences and incredible footage, with visitors to the nights being able to see some first-hand paranormal activity.
“We have been eager to see if other Paranormal Investigation teams can capture further evidence to corroborate what the Ethereal Wales team have discovered. What the Haunted Hunts team have recorded has been amazing and further proves the site is haunted.”
The next paranormal investigation event takes place this Saturday, 9 October, where members of the public are invited to join in with Ethereal Wales’ Paranormal Investigation.
