Madam,

I would like to thank the 228 electors across the Llansantffraed county ward and the 158 electors in Llansantffraed community who voted for me in the local elections.

I am sorry to report that I was not elected to the county council or re-elected to the community council, but would like to congratulate Cllr Edwards on his third term of office and congratulate the new members of Llansantffraed Community Council and hope that they have as nice a time on the council as I did.

I have sought to be elected to a council since 1997 and this marked my fifth attempt to do so. Even though I managed to walk 34 miles during the course of the campaign it became clear that it was this or bust, especially with boundary changes coming into effect for the next council elections.

Therefore, I can announce that I will not be standing for election again (for the simple reason that who knows what will happen in five years’ time) and so will continue to be my grandparent’s carer, as I am at the moment.
