MP Liz Saville Roberts’ campaign to improve mobile coverage across her constituency has yielded further successes this week as Penrhyndeudraeth, self-proclaimed as ‘Wales’ first networked village’ finally receives 4G coverage.
Vodafone and O2 customers in Penrhyndeudraeth and parts of Minffordd are now able to access mobile internet on the go, following the erection of a new mast in the area.
Penrhyndeudraeth became the UK’s first Networked Village in 1998, offering internet access to residents via radio technology but shall now enjoy 21st Century services too.
The Plaid Cymru politician has been campaigning to improve mobile coverage across the constituency and recently met Vodafone to lobby for improvements.
Customers with compatible devices will now be able to access 3G and 4G services.
Mrs Saville Roberts MP said: “This is great news for Vodafone and O2 customers in Penrhyndeudraeth who will now benefit from this welcome and long overdue investment in the local mobile network.”
