A DOLGELLAU councillor has helped brighten up the town with the help of students from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.
Cllr Linda Morgan has organised some very welcome flower displays for Dolgellau town centre on behalf of the town council again this year.
She said the flowers were planted and carefully nurtured over the winter months at the college’s Garden Department at the Dolgellau campus by the Independent Living Skills students (ILS) and Pre Vocational Students along with the staff members Dylan Wyn Jones, Peter Felton and Tom Springle.
Cllr Morgan added: “It is great news that the students are actively involved in contributing to improving the community and bringing some colour to the town with their daffodils, primroses and pansies and also the spring baskets. I am hoping that their example will be an inspiration to other young people and local businesses to take part and help care for their local environment especially here in Dolgellau town centre.
“Special thanks must go to all the ILS and Pre Vocational students and the staff for all their work in preparation for the spring flowers to be planted in eight flower containers in the town. Special thanks to ‘The A Team’ Chris Mason, Aaron Poxon, and Kye Jones who did the planting on the day, they were so polite and enjoyed their work, they are a credit to the college and it was so nice to meet them.
“We are planning to have new flower containers placed at the four entrances to the town for the summer and the college will be involved with this work.”
