AN AWARD-WINNING documentary is being shown at the cinema in Tywyn.
The film, Demain (Tomorrow) was the 2016 winner for best documentary at the César Awards (the French Oscars) and explores creative solutions for a greener future.
The production will be played at the Magic Lantern Cinema on Sunday, 21 January at 2pm to launch a new group for people who are concerned about environmental issues.
Greener Tywyn Gwyrdd was created a few months ago by a group of like-minded individuals who believe that even one small positive change in habits can make a big difference, and together people can have an environmental impact.
Demain follows a group of film-makers who travel to 10 different countries to capture inspirational achievements by ordinary people within their communities.
“In these times of such negativity, when so many of us feel helpless to change things for the better, this film offers a much-needed dose of hope and optimism,” said Greener Tywyn Gwyrdd member Chris Broster.
“It demonstrates that we all have the power to make positive changes in our own lives that can make our world a better place”
Members of the group will be on hand for a chat after the film over complimentary coffee and cake, to introduce the idea of encouraging people to make #OneGreenChange.
Plaid Cymru members Liz Saville Roberts MP, Simon Thomas AM and Gwynedd councillor Mike Stevens will also be in attendance.
“From buying loose fruits and vegetables to using a reusable glass bottle rather than single use plastic bottles”, continued Chris, “we believe that we can all commit to making one green change – no matter how big or small.”
