A CHARITY group are hoping to raise a cuppa as well as donations in their inaugural fund-raiser.

The newly formed Meirion and Dwyfor Marie Curie fundraising group will be hosting their first event next month and would like to extend a warm welcome to the whole community to join them.

The group are looking forward to a ‘cuppa and cake’ on Wednesday, 12 July, when they will be holding a ‘Blooming Great Tea Party’ at the Glaslyn Leisure Centre Café, Porthmadog from 10.30am till 6pm.

There will be a large selection of homemade cake, teas, coffees and cold drinks, as well as a raffle and tombola.

Debbie Bacon, chair of the group, said: “We are very excited about our first official fundraising event, and really hope the community comes forward to support us. It feels good to know that all the money we raise will be used by Marie Curie to support our local nursing and support services, meaning we can be sure that our efforts are having a positive effect in our own community.”

Cllr Nia Jeffreys said: “Our Marie Curie fundraising group is going from strength to strength. We’ve raised thousands of pounds for local nurses already through street collections. I am really looking forward to our first ever event - please join us to raise a cuppa and raise money for this very worthwhile cause.”

Marie Curie nurses provide specialist one-to-one care for people who are living with a terminal illness.
