WORKERS from a housing association braved the chilly seas over the weekend to raise money for charity.
At midday on Saturday, six members of Grwp Cynefin’s leadership team took part in a sea dip at Aberdaron to raise money for Awyr Las, the north Wales NHS charity.
The wintry weather and cold waters meant that it was quite a challenge!
Walis George, chief executive of Grwp Cynefin, said: “It was originally discussed in a meeting last year when we were brainstorming lots of different fund-raising ideas with Awyr Las for the year ahead and one of my colleagues joked about us all doing a January dip.
“We all laughed it off and continued discussing cake bakes and auctions but since then, we were challenged by staff members to actually take the plunge and do something different and daring... guess what was first on the list!
“We were all a little bit apprehensive. The sea was freezing cold in just T-shirts and shorts, but we’re all pleased to have been able to do it together and raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”
Following the dip, spectators, supporters and challengers were able to enjoy the warmth of Ty Newydd Hotel for a post dip get together.
