ECODYFI is encouraging community groups in the Dyfi Valley to ask a new local fund for money.
The Community Energy Fund aims to reduce the amount of energy used in community buildings and elsewhere in the area. Grants of up to £500 are available in the first round.
Potential activities could include installing insulation and energy saving lightbulbs, raising awareness of energy efficiency, promoting public transport, and other ideas that may come forward.
The fund will particularly welcome any proposals to benefit low income households and others in need.
The funds are open to any community group in the Dyfi Valley area, but priority will be given to activities that benefit residents of the Corris and Glantwymyn Community Council areas.
These are the areas closest to the two Dulas Valley wind turbines owned by Bro Dyfi Community Renewables. This local co-operative provides the income for the Fund.
The fund is managed by a committee consisting of Bro Dyfi Community Renewables, ecodyfi and the community councils of Glantwymyn and Corris.
Glantwymyn community councillor Gwen Lloyd said: “We welcome the benefits the fund will bring to the community by saving energy, reducing costs and helping the environment”.
