THE Cambrian News has got more than £7,400 to distribute to local charities and groups – the record-breaking proceeds of the popular 2017 Aberystwyth 10k Race
Applications are invited for a share of the pot raised by the Cambrian News Aberystwyth 10k Race, held at the beginning of December.
The race, for which the Cambrian News is main sponsor, and which is organised by Aberystwyth Athletics Club and Carl Williams, raises thousands of pounds for local charities each year.
The 2017 race raised a record sum from entry fees alone – and local charities and other local groups and organisations now have the opportunity to bid for a slice of that money.

Last year’s race, which took place on 3 December, was hailed a huge success, with around 650 runners taking part.
Runners young and old, from all over the country, pounded along the promenade to the finish line near the bandstand.
Anita Worthing of Aberystwyth Athletics Club, who helped organise the event, said: “It was the largest turnout ever and we had a strong local business entry too.
“As well as a good showing of local entrants, it is great to see a significant number of entrants from further afield.”
Mr Williams said: “I would in particular like to thank all the volunteers, without whom this race could not go ahead.
“Thanks to you all for your hard work.”
Cambrian News managing editor Bev Thomas said the newspaper was thrilled with the way the race was growing in popularity and stature, and how each year more and more money was being raised for local charities and organisations.
Thousands of runners have taken part over the years, raising well over £200,000 in total for charity so far.
“Every year there are more runners taking part and more and more money being raised for local charities,” said Bev.
