Madam,

Regarding your story in last week's newspaper, ‘Key issues highlighted at on farm meeting’, I’d like to thank NFU Ceredigion members for making me welcome, particularly Berian Morice for inviting me on his farm Gwarcaeau, Llangwyryfon to discuss the future of the dairy industry.

The low price of milk has been recognised by Plaid Cymru and the Welsh Government. There has also been European Union financial support to help dairy farmers through this difficult period.

The Conservative Government must give guarantees as promised during the referendum so farmers working in Wales will not be out of pocket. I listened to their views on the future of farming following the decision to leave the European Union.

We also discussed the Welsh Government’s approach to dealing with Bovine TB and Nitrate Vulnerable Zones.

Yours etc,

Simon Thomas, Mid and West AM, Plaid Cymru Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Climate Change and Rural Affairs.
