Two people have been awarded Welsh regional awards in recognition of their fantastic support of farming charity RABI.
Their prizes were awarded by NFU vice-president Stuart Roberts in front of more than 230 guests at RABI’s AGM/annual conference in Oxfordshire.
The awards go to the ‘person or people who, in the opinion of the awards panel, deserve special recognition’ for supporting RABI.
One of the recipients, Gwilym Jenkins, from Aberystwyth, is a founding member of RABI’s Ceredigion committee, who will be celebrating their 30th anniversary later this year. He is currently vice-chairman of the committee but has held most posts over the years.
Joshua Hosier, RABI deputy chairman, said: “Gwilym is a committed supporter, attends every meeting and event and is passionate about our work, taking every opportunity to raise awareness as well as funds.
“He always goes the extra mile, attending events in Carmarthenshire too, and ensuring that local shows, discussion groups and organisations all know about us. His level of commitment is exemplary and he’s a pleasure to work with.”
The charity conference brought together staff, volunteers, committee members and corporate supporters from all over England and Wales.
Stuart Roberts, guest speaker, paid tribute to RABI by saying: “Farming is not like any other sector, we’re actually part of a community and RABI is the bedrock of that.”
