A beach in Gwynedd has come second in a poll to find Britain’s most desirable beaches.

Barmouth beach was runner-up to another Welsh beach – Whitesands - in the poll by holidaycottages.co.uk.

Another Gwynedd beach, Harlech, came sixth in the poll, which has been put together based on water quality, visible pollution and number of Instagram snaps.

A further four beaches in Wales are included in the top 10.

In total, results for 593 beaches in England, Scotland and Wales were analysed to reveal the top 10 most desirable spots.

According to the poll, the top ten most appealing beaches are:
