A Gwynedd businessman has been abused online for asking a couple to put out their campfire.

Adrian Wright who owns Cefn Coed Wild Camping near Dolgellau is abused in a TikTok video on @jamietalks5’s account.

In the video, Adrian is described as a "f*!*!ing helmet" for asking people to put out campfires and turn their music down.

Responding to the criticism about campfires, Adrian said: “There have been wildfires burning just a few miles away and the ground is so dry that campfires are a huge risk to life for people, animals and the environment. We have imposed a ban and as well as warning signs, we brief every guest on check-in of the dangers.

"Unfortunately a handful of people seem to feel that their rights have been infringed and will go ahead and make a fire anyway when they think no one can see them. We patrol every night and any guest found to have a fire is asked politely to extinguish it.

“Ironically, no one wants to see an end to the ban more than us as we have lost income in firewood sales.

“Eryri or Snowdonia is one of the jewels of the British Isles and we welcome guests from far and wide but we don’t want them to set it on fire!"

Adrian’s daughter Sophie said her father’s warnings “feel particularly relevant at the moment”, as a fire started on a neighbouring farm.

“It really reinforces how important it is that everyone takes sensible precautions and respects the rules, particularly during dry conditions when fire can spread so quickly,” Sophie added.

“What may seem like a small or harmless action can have much wider consequences for neighbouring farms, livestock, wildlife and property, so we are very conscious of doing everything we can to minimise those risks.”
