Gwynedd Council’s Cabinet has adopted an agreement to strengthen the relationship between them and third sector organisations.  

The third sector, which includes charities, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and community groups, plays a vital role in the lives of Gwynedd residents, providing support to individuals and families, creating opportunities to volunteer, strengthening communities, and contributing significantly to the county's well-being.  

By adopting the latest version of the 'Compact' agreement, the council and third sector reaffirm their commitment to working together for the people of Gwynedd.  

As part of the new arrangements, the Third Sector Liaison Group will be re-established in partnership with Mantell Gwynedd, bringing voices from across the sector together to share ideas, discuss priorities and shape the way forward.  

Cllr Dilwyn Morgan, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Well-being said: ⁠“I'm delighted Cabinet has agreed to adopt the agreement. The third sector is an extremely important partner to the council delivering significant work that improves the lives of people across Gwynedd.

“By working together, we can make the best use of our resources, capitalise on each other's strengths and maximise the benefits for our residents and communities.

“The agreement provides us with a solid foundation to build on, ensuring that the relationship between the third sector and the council continues to develop and thrive in the years to come.”  

Bethan Russell Williams, Mantell Gwynedd Chief Officer added: “The Compact tells a good story of working together in partnership, and of trust between two sectors within one county. 

“The council would not be able to deliver all services without the third sector organisations, but the sector also needs the support and trust to be able to do that.  

“We have reached a good point in Gwynedd, and it is important to remember it is the well-being of the people of Gwynedd at the heart of this very special relationship.”
