Gwynedd Council has congratulated the county’s pupils on this year’s GCSE results.

Cllr Dewi Jones, Cabinet Member for Education, and Gwern ap Rhisiart, Head of Education at the council, praised staff and pupils for their efforts.

Cllr Jones said: “We are very proud of the success of our pupils here in Gwynedd, and this year’s results are very encouraging.

“Every pupil deserves praise for their efforts and hard work, and we are committed to seeing all our young people succeed and thrive.

“I would also like to thank the teachers and school staff for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.” 

Gwern ap Rhisiart added: “This year’s GCSE results reflect the dedication, perseverance and talent of our young people. Huge congratulations to them all.

“The results highlight the core values at the heart of our education system here in Gwynedd – inclusion, wellbeing, equal opportunity, and supporting every pupil to achieve their potential as individuals.”

Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn pupils have been praised for their GCSE results.

The school is delighted to celebrate the achievements of their Year 11 students, who received their GCSE results today, Thursday, 20 August.

They said the results “are a testament to the hard work, commitment and resilience shown by their learners throughout their studies”.

“Staff, students and families have worked together to overcome challenges and ensure that every young person was supported in reaching their potential,” the school statement adds.

“We are proud of the progress made by students across a wide range of subjects and look forward to seeing them take the next steps in their education, training and future careers.”

Headteacher David Thorp said: "We are extremely proud of all our students and the effort they have shown throughout their GCSE and vocational courses.

“I must also thank the exceptional work done by all our staff with our pupils throughout their time at Tywyn – their excellent commitment and dedication have certainly been reflected in these results.

“We congratulate every student on their achievements and look forwards to seeing them thrive as they move on to the next steps in their lives.”

Pupils in Dolgellau’s Ysgol Bro Idris celebrated too. The school said: “Congratulations to all Ysgol Bro Idris pupils on their GCSE results today, we’re very proud of every single one of you!

“The following pupils have received over 5 A*/A - Alexia, Katie, Beca, Chloe, Lois a Ffion - a fantastic achievement!”

Pupils at Porthmadog’s Ysgol Eifionnydd have also been congratulated. The school said: “Huge congratulations to all our Year 11 pupils on their results today. We are extremely proud of your hard work and effort, and wish you every success at college, in training, in employment or wherever your next steps take you. Several pupils achieved A* and A grades in every subject – a truly outstanding achievement!”

Ysgol Glan y Mor pupils in Pwllheli were praised by staff.

“We are extremely proud of our Year 10 and Year 11 pupils for their success in their GCSE exams today. A huge congratulations to you all!,” a school spokesperson said.

Blaenau Ffestiniog’s Ysgol y Moelwyn said: “We are incredibly proud of all our pupils! Huge congratulations to everyone!”
