Gwynedd residents are being urged to keep their eyes and ears open this Christmas to support victims of violence, abuse and neglect.

Gwynedd Council is keen to get the message out to vulnerable people of all ages and backgrounds that services are still open and help available, despite coronavirus restrictions.

There is also a request for the people of Gwynedd to keep their eyes and ears open for vulnerable children and adults who may be at risk during this time.

Cllr Dilwyn Morgan, chair of Gwynedd Council’s Safeguarding Panel, said: “This is a difficult time for all of us, and it is so important that we support and care for each other.

“The Christmas and New Year holiday period can be a difficult time for some. As a council we are doing everything possible to support those children and adults who may need our help, and we also ask the people of the county to help us look out for them.

“It’s a sad fact that not every home is a safe place. Everyone has a role to play in protecting children and vulnerable adults who may be at risk during the Christmas and coronavirus periods.

"We want to make sure that people understand that public services are still open and help is available and to contact us straight away so that our officers can take immediate action to help and support.

“If you think a child or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected, please contact the relevant authorities. You may be worried about a family member, neighbour or co-worker. If you suspect something is wrong, please pick up the phone or contact us online.”
