Eight grandchildren of a Beulah woman will be tackling Sunday’s Cardiff Half Marathon in her memory.
Mair Elias sadly passed away earlier this year at the age of 86 having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2001.
Non Elias, a member of the half-marathon team called Mair’s Mob or Mob Mair, is urging others who are signed up to the race to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK.
“My gran was the heart of the family, her children and grandchildren are spread out all over the UK and she was the focal point for us all to come together,” she said. “She really enjoyed being taken out and about, especially for an ice cream!
“Along with gran’s children, we will make up a team of 12, running the race in her memory.
“We have set up a WhatsApp group for training so we can all spur each other on, and it is such a lovely way for us to all come together again and pay tribute to her.
“Every penny makes a difference and we are hoping to raise as much as we can for Parkinson’s UK.”
