THIS year’s outdoor meetings will begin with a visit to what is probably the county’s most dramatic Bronze Age monument, Bryn Cader Faner.Built some 4,000 years ago it is still an impressive sight when approached from the south, which is what we shall be doing. We’ll meet at top car park, Bron y Graig on Saturday, 18 June at 11am. Bring a picnic lunch.Taking as few cars as possible we’ll drive to the parking spot above Eisingrug where the metalled road ends at GR 629343.A small parking charge is payable. Please note that the road is steep, winding and narrow. There may also be cattle on it.The walk from the parking spot shouldn’t take more than an hour and a quarter. We can have our picnic at the monument which, apart from its archaeological merit, offers terrific views of the Snowdon massif and beyond. The walk will be led by archaeologist Andrew Wolfe. The going up there can be wet at the best of times so in the event of bad weather the walk will be rescheduled.Andrew will be at the car park, whatever the weather, to give further information. No dogs.
