TWO six-man Hawaiian canoes were the star entries in this year’s Mawddach Paddlefest.

Never seen before in Barmouth, these canoes added a colourful sight on a rather misty Sunday.

Mawddach Paddlefest, run by the Barmouth Yacht Club in aid of Hope House Children’s hospice and other local good causes, was well supported by increasing numbers of visiting paddlers and the hugely popular raft races were enthusiastically contested and greatly enjoyed by everyone.

The Have A Go Stand Up Paddleboarding Barmouth, was extremely popular with both adults and youngsters alike and the Celtic Rowers were active throughout the event.

The Guided Paddlers also enjoyed their run up to

Penmaenpool in the care of the Ray Hinds and his team.

The Mawddach Marathon paddlers took to the challenging conditions on the Sunday with the race being won by Gary Carter and John Rennocks in a double canoe and the single canoe class being won by John Willacy.
