Madam,
As a member of the Labour Party, I went with Mac, (my husband and Welsh Assembly candidate for Dwyfor Meironnydd) to Tywyn last Saturday, 5 March, in the hope of gaining some insight into what issues currently matter most to the people of Tywyn, whatever their political beliefs. We had identified nine issues and asked people to select the three they considered most important for the Welsh Assembly members to address.
Fifty-one people took part and it is for their information, and indeed for all Tywyn residents, that I would like your paper to publish the results in this letter.Health - 45, jobs -27, education - 26, immigration - 16, housing - 14, cuts/austerity - 11, transport - 8, rural issues - 3, Welsh culture - 3.
I would like to extend our grateful thanks to all those who took part and to say how much I appreciated the friendly good manners of most of the Tywynians who responded to our request, whether they accepted it or not, to choose three priorities. Some people were able to pause and talk to us, and I very much enjoyed hearing what they had to say.
We hope that these results will form part of a larger picture of the opinions of the electorate in Dwyfor Meirionnydd, which will be used to inform future policy-making in the Welsh Labour Party.
Yours etc
Deborah MacIntyre
