A PWLLHELI surgery has been forced to cancel its appointments due to a lack of doctors for the second time in a month.
In February, Treflan Surgery issued a notice to its 7,500 patients informing them that, due to severe clinical staff shortage, they had to resort to treating emergencies only for four days.
On Monday, the surgery again notified its patients that, due to a shortage of GPs, they would only be seeing urgent cases. The surgery currently has five GPs, with the majority working part-time.
Local MP Liz Saville Roberts spoke of her disappointment that problems at the surgery had not yet been resolved.
She said: “I’m very disappointed that measures have still not been taken to redress the situation and provide the sufficient support required by the practice, which is clearly struggling to cope.”
A spokesperson for Betsi Cadwaldr said: “The health board recognises that a number of practices in the Dwyfor area currently have vacancies which can cause gaps in their rotas.
“The health board is hoping to recruit more salaried GPs over the coming months to provide further support to practices.”
