A Penparcau care home will be sold to the highest bidder if a social housing landlord can’t be found for the site in the next three months.

The Bondlodeb home in Penparcau was closed in January 2018 and was put up for sale with a £395,000 price.

A sale had been agreed but after more than a year, Ceredigion County Council’s Cabinet heard this morning that the deal had fallen through.

A recommendation to revoke a previous Cabinet decision to give preference to buyers providing an elderly mentally infirm nursing home was approved today.

It was also agreed that officers would liaise with registered social landlords with a sale to be agreed within three months.

If an agreement is not reached with a registered social landlord in that time the site will be placed on the open market and any capital receipt ring-fenced for “investment in the capital programme for council-run residential homes”.
