A DOG has been recognised for his incredible bravery after he underwent an operation to remove a cancerous tumour from his throat.

Buster, a 10-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier from Beddgelert, has won ChesterGates Veterinary Specialist’s highly-acclaimed title of Pet of the Month in recognition of his bravery in recovering from his operation.

His owners, Mandy and Colin Blake, noticed that Buster was panting more than usual and, although they initially thought this might be due to the heat, alarm bells sounded when they found a lump under his chin.

They took Buster to their local vet, who referred them to ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists in Chester for further investigation where a CT scan, biopsy and radiographs were taken.

Buster was then scheduled for an operation to remove the lump, which was identified as a cancerous tumour.

Although the operation went well, worryingly, Buster’s blood pressure dropped several times, causing considerable concern to his owners and the veterinary team.

Buster remained hospitalised for two days before returning home, where he quickly improved and was soon back to his old self.

Mr Blake said: “Buster has always had a wonderful temperament and he has achieved a dramatic recovery.

"Naturally, we were very concerned about him but ChesterGates did a fantastic job and kept us updated on his progress every step of the way.”
