A CHARITY that arranges visits by musical performers to hospitals and care homes will compete for funding through an ITV TV show.
Music in Hospitals, which runs sessions across Ceredigion and Powys, is just one of five charitable groups in Wales chosen for the shortlist for The People’s Projects show where they can challenge for up to £50,000 of Big Lottery Fund cash.
The scheme has arranged performances at Aberystwyth Day Centre, Hafan y Waun, Abermâd and Tregerddan care homes, and the Maes y Wennol day centre in Llanidloes in recent months.
Robert Aitken, the director of the scheme, said it was designed to provide entertainment for people who would not be able to attend performances on their own.
He said: “Our Music in Care Homes project brings the concert hall into the care home.
Many care home residents can’t get out and access live music on their own, so we bring it to them."
