Thirteen deaths have been recorded across Wales today, according to the latest coronavirus figures.
Daily figures released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales reveal that 2,580 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Wales along with 13 new deaths, with the national rate of infection standing at 648.1 cases per 100,000 population.
Of those new cases, 59 have been recorded in Ceredigion with 199 in Carmarthenshire and 71 in Pembrokeshire.
Powys has recorded 78 cases today with 81 in Gwynedd.
None of the deaths recorded today have been in the Betsi Cadwaladr, Hywel Dda or Powys health board areas.
Since the start of the pandemic, Hywel Dda, which covers Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, has recorded 513 deaths.
Betsi Cadwaladr in north Wales has recorded 1,037 deaths, with Powys recording 72.
Council bosses in Ceredigion have today warned however that Cardigan and Aberporth currently has the highest rate of infection ever seen in the county with a rate of 1,081.3 cases per 100,000 – equating to one person in every hundred.
The levels elsewhere in the county also remain high, with areas such as Lampeter and Llanfihangel Ystrad at 582.3/100,000 of the population and New Quay and Penbryn at 578.1/100,000.
The number of cases amongst people under 25 years old continues to rise. In the last seven days, this has increased to 898.6/100,000 of the population.
These levels have been consistently high for a number of weeks and unfortunately is resulting in a number of hospital admissions.
