Two deaths and over 3,000 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded across Wales today.

The latest figures released by Public Health Wales this afternoon show that 3,200 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded nationally.

51 of those cases have been recorded in Ceredigion, with Carmarthenshire recording 125 and Pembrokeshire recording 146 new cases.

Powys has recorded 121 new cases while Gwynedd has recorded 65.

The current rate of infection nationwide stands at 585.1 cases per 100,000 population, which is taken from data recorded over a seven-day period between 8 and 14 October.

The rate in Ceredigion is well below the national average, standing at 345.3 after recording 251 new cases over that time period.

Carmarthenshire’s rate is 596.0 with Pembrokeshire having the highest rate in west Wales at 760.6.

Powys has a rate of 561.8 and Gwynedd has a rate of 421.5.

One of the two deaths recorded today has come in the Powys area, taking that region’s total number of fatalities to 76.

Hywel Dda Health Board region in west Wales and Betsi Cadwaldr in north Wales recorded no deaths today, leaving the total number of fatalities at 539 and 1,057 respectively.
