Five deaths have been recorded across Wales today, according to the latest coronavirus figures.
The latest data released by Public Health Wales shows that 1,791 new cases have been recorded across Wales today.
The data also shows that five new deaths from suspected Covid-19 in Wales, taking the total to 5,668 since the start of the pandemic.
Carmarthenshire continues to see triple-digit daily figures for new cases with 123 new cases recorded today.
Ceredigion has recorded 36 cases today meaning the county has recorded 248 new cases over the last seven days.
Pembrokeshire has recorded 90 new cases today with 59 being recorded in Powys and 85 in Gwynedd.
The national rate of infection across Wales currently stands at 343.1.
Covid restrictions will not be changed in Wales despite the rise in new cases.
First Minister Mark Drakeford announced on Thursday evening that the country would remain at alert level zero, but urged people to remain cautious and to get vaccinated.
The rise in cases has led health chiefs in Ceredigion to issue a warning for people to stay safe in the lead up to the bank holiday weekend.
A Ceredigion County Council spokesperson said: “The number of cases is expected to increase further over the coming days and our coastal towns will inevitably be busier than normal and places will get crowded.
“So, if you’re partying at home or going ‘out out’, do the best you can to limit the chance of catching Covid.”
