Four deaths have been recorded in Wales today, according to the latest coronavirus figures.

Data released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales shows that 1,705 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded today along with four deaths.

The total number of suspected Covid-19 deaths in Wales since the start of the pandemic now stands at 5,662.

Ceredigion has recorded 29 new coronavirus cases today, with 106 being recorded in neighbouring Carmarthenshire.

Elsewhere, Pembrokeshire has recorded 83 cases today with 48 in Powys and 46 in Gwynedd.

The rate of infection in Wales continues to rise. The national figure currently stands at 321.7 cases per 100,000 population.

Data on rate of infection for counties for a seven-day period up to Friday, 20 August, shows that Ceredigion has a rate of infection of 255.9, with Pembrokeshire having a rate of 372.0

Elsewhere, Carmarthenshire has a rate of 267.0, Powys 268.8 and Gwynedd 297.8.
